PLANTS WITH ANIMAL NAMES AND REFERENCES

Of course, above is the "Fox Tail" Asparagus!
99160 ZOO ANIMALS COLLECTION (5): We have noted various customers' amusement derived from accumulating groups of plants based on their common names and, resultingly, have decided to pander to such refined eccentricity by offering two possible categories: Tropical, as in "Tapeworm Plant" (Homalocladum), "Congo Cockatoo" (Impatiens}, "Ponytail" (Beaucarnea), "Giant Ape" (Alocasia), "Spider Plant" (Chlorophytum), 'Lion's Tail" (Leonotis), "Cat's Wiskers" (Orthospiphon), "Butterfly Weed" (Asclepias curr.), "Batface Heather" (Cuphaea), "Rooster Comb" (Campyoneuron), "Rattail" (Cactus), "Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia), "Panda Bear" (Kalanchoe), "Parrot Flower" (Heliconia), "Partridge-breast" (Aloe), "Piggyback" (Tolmiea), "Rabbit's Foot" (Humata), "Batwing" (Passiflora and Tacca), "Pigtail" (Anthurium), "Gila Monster" (Ledebouria), and so on. A second category of winter hardy plants might include 'Lamb's Ear" (Stachys), "Tiger Lily" (Lillum), "Dogwood" (Cornus), "Buckeye" (Aesculus), "Butterfly Bush"(Buddleia), "Cattail"(Typha), "Crowsfoot" (Ranunculus), "Horsetail" (Equisetum), "Cowstail" (Cephalotaxus), "Hart's Tongue" (Phylitis), and "Goatsbeard" (Aruncus). Imaginary animals would create a considerable third group--"Dragonbones"(Euphorbia), "Dragonblood" (Dracaena) and "Dragonflower" (Huernia) are a mere start. 5 reliable plants for only PRICE: $22.00--and no, once again we will not insist on an I.D. from your vet.

A plant more tolerant of neglect and abuse does not come to mind.

68361 BEAUCARNEA STRICTA AGA HP CGH PRICE: $ 10.00 Striking "Blue Ponytail" with stout caudex base topped by an explosion of straight firm keeled needle leaves a beautiful glaucous blue green.

56272 BEGONIA BOB HAMM BEG HP CGH PRICE: $ 5.00 (rz) (Rhizomatous). (rz) Blanton hybrid with dark oval leathery leaves highlighted by a red central eye and slim red rims; pink blossoms in large open custers in winter.Extremely tolerant of low humidity, this "Bull's Eye" is much easier to grow than the similarly colored, but smaller statured, conchifolia.

56797 BEGONIA COWARDLY LION [HYB] BEG HP TGH PRICE: $ 6.75 (rz) Big and bold, tolerating considerable neglect as long a adequate light is given to maintain that yellow copper dusky gold leaf to emphasized by darker veins--deep spirals with a 'Lopse II' texture. Showy white flower clusters. Certainly earns the space it demands.

56526 BEGONIA DRAGONWING [HYB] BEG HP TGH PRICE: $ 3.75 (shrub) This is a large statured heat tolerant seed strain selection with unusually large scarlet flower clusters emerging from arched stems studded with cheerful wing shaped foliage.Much used in summertime outdoor planters (and often appearing at nurseries specializing in spring bedding plants); of limited value as a windowsill subject as becomes quite leggy without full sun..

56037 BEGONIA ERYTHROPHYLLA [HYB] BEG HP GHP PRICE: $ 5.00 (rz) "Beefsteak Begonia" Waxy rounded leaves reddish beneath. Easy and reliable and beautiful AND the one probably flourishing on your grandmother's windowsill. This most ordered of all the Begonias we offer is an heirloom hybrid of the Mexican species manicata x hydrocotifolia.

56701 BEGONIA ESCARGOT BEG TGH TERR PRICE: $ 6.25 [rex] Large whorled leaves in chocolate, champagne, silver and pewter tones. Needs high humidity and very even temperatures so that a large terrarium would make the perfect home. Sold with PPAF tag. A highly promoted "rex" type which, while stunningly beautiful, constitutes a considerable challenge to growers not familiar with the "rex" tribe's demand for constant adequate humidity, perfect drainage in very fibrous mixes, and bright indirect lighting; as with most of this tribe, a mid summer and a mid winter "rest" is typical behavior with potential radical loss of foliage, soon replaced with a new flush of growth within a month or so. We emphatically do not recommend this challenging (though fabulously beautiful) Begonia as the first Begonia you have ever tried to grow!

56054 BEGONIA GREY FEATHER [HYB] BEG HP CGH PRICE: $ 5.75 (s) Wavy gray-green arrow leaves veined silver-gray; a favorite for pots or for very large dramatic baskets, as the rangy stalks ornately topple from the sheer foliar weight. Quite distinctive habit and unique glabrous toned color.

56455 BEGONIA HOCKING WYVERN BEG CGH HP PRICE: $ 8.25(rz) Like the scaled-winged stone Dragon, the looped dark scaled hieroglyphics cover the curled guacamole green sheened surfaces of the thick leaves which tend to fold in odd jade roils upon or near the soil surface. One of the more recent Frieling hybrids which is being ordered at times beyond our production abilities.

56090 BEGONIA MARMADUKE [HYB] BEG HP CGH PRICE: $ 6.00 Rounded leaves with rich bronze, emerald and ochre mosaic with rich rusty speckling concentrated at vein junctions, a very dramatic and quite distincitve character reaching considerable stature--often a prize winning impressive specimen at shows.

56125 BEGONIA SNOOPY [HYB] BEG HP CGH PRICE: $ 4.25 (rz) Very thick surface rhizomes support the dramatically sized quilted leaves of bright yellow ochre, held aloft on thick succulent petioles righly haired. Give this one room. Equally impressive indoors or in your patio containers where its ochre gold coloring is amazing as an upright echo of Ipomea 'Margarite' which cascades in golden chartreuse abundance. We know of no other Begonia of easy culture giving such a bold golden chartreuse statement.

56234 BEGONIA TIGER BROCADE [HYB] BEG CGH HP PRICE: $ 4.25 (rz) Compact, thick-foliaged Frieling hybrid of B. `Tiger Kitten' x `Persian Brocade.' Excellent for windowsill or will spill forth the rusty orange patterned leaves from a hanging basket.

56512 BEGONIA TIGER CUB [HYB] BEG HP PRICE: $ 4.25 More vigorous compact seedling of 'Tiger Kitten'

41510 CANNA GENERALIS STRIATUS [BENGAL TIGER] CAN TGH CGH PRICE: $ 10.00 "Bangkok indian Shot" or "Pretoria Canna" Spectacular garden canna cultivar forming dramatic clumps of brightly striped green and butter yellow leaves topped by heads of large orange flowers. Blooms in winter greenhouse as has no real dormancy cycle. We suggest to those interested in research that a quick look in the important tome, "Gardening in india," will prove that C. generalis 'Striatus' was long grown in India before exported to Pretoria where it was "rediscovered" by nurserymen unfamiliar with the specimens already present in the U.S. trade. Henry Ross was wise to resolve the confusion by declaring it to be the remarkable 'Bengal Tiger' it just is.

40117 CHLOROPHYTUM COMOSUM LIL HP TGH PRICE: $ 2.00 "Spider Plant / Airplane Plant" Glossy green arched leaves; lon bloom stems bend with many thick-rooted plantlets. The basic utterly green, astoundingly vigorous species form which seldom appears in commerce now even though it was used formerly to provide early warning of high salts in water or excessive contamination in air quality by immediately developing browned leaf tips to warn its human companions of environmental problems. It will still be your canary in a cage for your house.

43117 CHLOROPHYTUM COMOSUM BONNIE PPAF LIL TGH CGH PRICE: $ 4.25 The uniquely fetching "Curly Spider Plant" with centrally striped creamy variegation but each leaf curls and swirls in the Shirley Temple tuffets, sending out abbreviated corkscrew stems with more twisted plantlets suspended in air. Oglesby introduction.

65683 CHLOROPHYTUM COMOSUM GOLDEN GLOW LIL HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.50 "Golden Spider Plant" Similar in stature to 'vittatum,' yet every rich green leaf blade is centered with vivid ochre and rich champagne tones--quickly clumps and sends off long shoots tipped with variegated "Airplane" offsets.

41357 CISSUS HAMADEROHENSIS VIT HP TGH PRICE: $4.75 "Tapeworm Grape" Thick slate green flattened tapeworm stems of long-spaced joints climb with tendrils; leaves deciduous as it is native to areas of severe heat and wind not kind to plants insisting on maintaining foliage. For kids, this is a totally neat plant. Sent as mossed URCuts if have none potted when you order as it seems to travel best as a mossed cut.

40133 CLERODENDRON UGANDENSE VER CGH HP PRICE: $ 8.00 "Blue Butterfly Flower" Upside-down flowers of bright blue with indigo stamens (filaments purple, anthers blue!) suspended like chains of butterfies from the slim straight stems used as arrow shafts; beware the strongly scented (and we mean seriously scented) foliage

55657 COLEUS CANINUS LAB TGH HP PRICE: $ 4.00 Odoriferous succulent leaves, slightly viscous, on tumbling thick stems; attractive curosity--but when leaves are crushed, beware the "Eau de Firehydrant" fragrance. We received this some years ago from Sydney Botanic Gardens via California's Quail Botanical Garden and are amused that this rather modest plant is now being aggressively marketed as the "Piss Off" or "Scardy Cat" plant reputed to keep cats (and even dogs) at bay. This does not work well here in our observations, but then, none of our cats seems particularly daunted by the canine tribe. Could be that the staff cats consider themselves to be feline rather than canine?

56747 COLEUS HYBRIDUS ALLIGATOR LAB TGH HP PRICE: $ 4.75 Congested Lohman critter not to be "seeya later"--rumpled wide liver toned chocolate leaves with guilded scaled violet and John Deere green brushings. Bizarre fasciation of stems may look like pulled licorice; like kelp or something evolving (devolving?) under the sea. For those who see Coleus collecting as an adventure.

55612 COLEUS HYBRIDUS BUTTERFLY LAB TGH PRICE: $ 4.75 Lacinate leaves with purples and olives (like a pastel 'Snowflake' with three tiers) on strong central stems making this heirloom hybrid a natural for small standards. Never flashy, always charming, especially when combined with bolder leaved hybrids.

66762 COLEUS HYBRIDUS CARDINAL LAB TGH HP PRICE: $ 4.50 Dusky rose red leaves with wide lime crenations Heirloom type. Like the cardinals at the birdfeeder, this is deservedly popular because it is colorful and quite unabashed.

49432 COLEUS HYBRIDUS CHAMELEON LAB TGH PRICE: $ 4.75 From the loins of 'Alligator' springs this rumpled edged reddish purple border complementing the creamy lime embossed center of each leaf. An oddity of disturbing violet/lilac with Chernoble green flecks the metalic sheened surface. This Doug Lohman hybrid is not for the timid or weak of heart. Emphatically not a bedding variety.

51788 COLEUS HYBRIDUS OXBLOOD RED LAB TGH HP PRICE: $ 4.25 Reddish scarlet leaves with umber blush, olive colored scalloped edges and violet veins echoed by the violet red underleaf. Vigorous fast growing hybrid with a smoldering dusky appearance.

41096 COLEUS HYBRIDUS PURPLE DUCKFOOT [SPECIES?] LAB CGH HP PRICE: $ 4.00 Compact dwarf globes of tiny purple short-lobed web-foot leaves tightly overlapping on self-heading stems; non-blooming mini excellent for light gardening or outdoor bedding edger. Called "Mars Coleus" on East Coast, this is a perfect addition to any urn, windowbox, or patio container (some customers spot it among their Hosta beds to great effect); moreover, an excellent winter performer in the hobby greenhouse or sunny indoor windowsill.

30625 COLOCASIA ESCULENTA ARAC PRICE: $ 5.00 Popular "Elephant Ear" whose giant quilted peltate leaves have always made it a popular accent plant for outdoor beds; the tubers are the source of "Taro."

30182 COLOCASIA ESCULENTA [ANTIQUORUM] FONTANESII ARAC TGH PRICE: $ 15.00 "Elephant taro" Vigorous purple-stemmed elephant-eared leaves of glaucous blue-green. Needs wet feet and warmth. Very effective if situated so the vivid purple raised underveins are highlighted. Tony Avent suggests that the yellowish spathes have a papaya scent. Evergreen in warm greenhouse.

20103 COLUMNEA TOSCA [HYB] GES HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.75Very shrubby habit rigidly cascading with long barely haired leaves perfect with the fuzzy flared red tubular blossoms; this antique "Bona's Red Dragonflower" still is among the strongest growing, most easily bloomed of any hybrid.

60241 CRASSULA ARBORESCENS UNDULATIFOLIA CRA HP PRICE: $ 3.50 "Blue Bird Jade" Bluish-gray elongate twisted leaf pairs stand erect on much branched pseudo-tree. Good succulent bonsai with compact rounded heads of pink star flowers whose glossy petals are more wide and blunt than those of most C. ovata cultivars.

50513 CYANOTIS KEWENSIS COMM HP CGH PRICE: $4.25 Malabar native "Teddy bear Plant" with compact, ground-hugging stems clasped by triangular fleshy leaves felted chocolate-brown.

50514 CYANOTIS SOMALIENSIS COMM HP CGH PRICE: $ 3.75 "Pussy Ears" Succulent creeper with triangular curved, gloss green leaves with soft white hairs creating a "fringe"; flowers said to be purple & orange--although after growing this twenty years, we have yet to observe any. Excellent for small baskets; perfect groundcover in succulent dish gardens.

31466 DEAMIA TESTUDO CAC PRICE: $ 2.75 The easily grown "Dogtail Cactus" perfect for baskets as the ornately ribbed fat stem sections will create an impressive jumbled cascade in time; if given the chance to climb, however, becomes an agressive scandent tropical vine. Sent as very easily rooted URCuttings in dry moss. If you can kill this, you deserve a medal from the International Brotherhood of the Brown Thumb.

88982 DENDRENTHEMUM [CHRYSANTHEMUM] AOI COMP HH CGH PRICE: $ 4.25 Upright "Ise Mum" type with woody stem(s) best staked; topped with remarkable orchid pink (fading to lavender) spidery eyelash blossoms with a startling yellow eye nestled at center; fern foliage. "Lavender Spider" for late fall flowers--if you are a northern grower, this will be a remarkable subject for a cool fall greenhouse or bright sunny plantroom. Removing side flower buds from the terminal stem will channel all energy to the terminal bud, resulting in an over the top size blossom.

50014 DICLIPTERA [JACOBINIA] SUBERECTA ACAN CGH HP PRICE: $ 3.75 Cupped oval gray leaves, richly velvety haired surfaces giving a silvery tone, on low arching stems; showy brick-red two lipped rust orange designed blossoms in "King's Crown" heads appear during winter. From Uruguay, where this is known as the "Hummingbird Plant," this undemanding carpeting or cascading "shrimp" cousin (while traditionally a greenhouse basket or groundcover subject) has recently become popular as an undemanding attractive summer urn and windowbox item adding a soft velvety tone to any combination.

60970 DISCHIDIA NUMMULARIFOLIA MARGINATA ASC HP TGH PRICE: $ 9.25 Succulent fat green button leaves, each margined in rich ivory, are closely paired on the surface stems which shallowly root on any epiphytic mix or cork bark or treefern plaque. We have seen these growing in hanging baskets also with great effect. One of our favorite plants. These "Owl Eyes" flourish in light garden conditions. Sometimes sent as mossed URC

41585 DURANTA PLUMIERII [REPENS] VARIEGATA VER HP TGH PRICE: $ 12.00 "Ivory Margined Skyflower" Vining shrubs with woody out arching stems ranked with beautiful glossy toothed leaves with very wide creamy-white margins. The blue (fading to lilac) flower clusters are followed by yellow "Pigeon Berry" fruit. Caribe native. Foliage larger and flashier than the repens/erecta complex.

42142 DURANTA SPECIES DWARF VER TGH HP PRICE: $ 5.00 "Pigeon Berry"Hansoti #26; possibly an extreme dwarf clone of D. repens (although Botanists now suggest that all are species erecta--bit of a contrast?), yet the sprays of delicate flowers are of rich lilac, not blue. Outstanding dependable pot plant from india currently gaining much popular favor with prunner armed bonsai fanciers. Most successful as a windowsill houseplant.

61716 FATSIA JAPONICA SPIDER'S WEB ARAL HP PRICE: $12.00 The wide leathery palmate leaves are brilliantly frosted white on the margins, with startling effect. Beautiful, yet easily grown as is winter hardy in the deep South, yet, as it willingly accomodates to container growing, is an excellent houseplant (especially for that chilly entryway or cool glassed in porch); we puts three plants in a large shallow urn for summer duty on the deck, and winter duty in a chilly porch with a batch of Clivia and Pelargoniums--seems to work just fine. This fabulouly beautiful selection was named by Mr. Hirose of variegation book fame. Quite amazing when the branched button bush (Ivy like) flower heads develop with maturity.

60184 FREREA INDICA ASC HP TGH PRICE: $5.25 "Leafy Starfish" Semi-erect, then pendant leafy branches produce beautiful convex red starfish flowers spotted sulphur yellow. From india, prefers constant warmth and even moisture in an epiphytic mix. If ordered to be sent during a less warm period of the year, we typically send as an URCutting in dry moss so it will travel without chance of rot. Formerly Caralluma frerea, a great favorite among lite gardeners, as it thrives in such environments.

53391 GMELINA PARROT'S BEAK [HYSTRIX] VER TGG PRICE: $ 6.75Woody stems with small attractively lobed leaves and terminal pendulous racemes of showy overlapping bracts and yellowish blossoms. Excellent container plant; try as a tropical bosai. A Genus from India on through the Philippines. Availability can be spotty--best to check before ordering as we do not like to send this out dormant.

41183 HEDERA HELIX KOLIBRI ARAL HP CGH HH PRICE: $ 4.75 Silver-white and slate-gray flecked with emerald enameled on compact leathery leaves--forming a thick richly textured carpet with remarkably beautiful color saturation. Beautiful "Hummingbird Ivy" noted for unusually strong contrast of dark flecks on snowy white & ochre mosaic leaves of very strong texture. Its popularity as never wavered.

41196 HEDERA HELIX TIGER EYES ARAL HP CGH PRICE: $ 4.75 A golden-centered sport of `Plume d'Or' selected by Ken Frieling and introduced by the Glasshouse Works greenhouses. The deeply lobed, self-branching foliage makes this a full, handsome container subject; so far, a fair to good outdoor groundcover here in SE Ohio, burning only during severe cold spells without snowcover.

66732 HEDERA HELIX ZEBRA ARAL CGH HH PRICE: $ 3.75 Stout stems hold thick textured glaucous green cupped leaves liberally streaked with cream. Although a bit reluctant to self-branch, still a dramatic cascading very variegated choice for a hanging basket indoors; furthermore, this dramatic heavily textured showoff has been quite winter tolerant outdoors for us for the last dozen years, being the only clone with this much white on the leaf surface not seriously affected by winter burn.

53023 HEDYCHIUM CORONARIUM ZIN TGH HP CGH PRICE: $ 12.00 "Butterfly Ginger" Fragrant white flowers top very tall stalks. The heavily perfumed ivory petals are used in Hawaiian leis, hence, also known as the "Garland Flower." Evergreen species easy to grow with good light.

53129HELICONIA ANGUSTA RED CHRISTMAS MUS TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 Dark foliaged compact growing "Lobster Claw" with marvelous red & white flowers

54051 HELICONIA HUMILIS [STRICTA 'DWARF JAMAICAN'] MUS TGH HP PRICE: $ 15.00 Short stalked clone of the "Dwarf Lobster Claw" with very thickly set wide showy foliage. As matures, will produce dramatic red bracts from which emerge white fls with green tips. Best one for indoor house culture--grow on pebble tray.

50057 HEMIGRAPHIS REPANDA ACAN HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.75 "Narrow Leaf Flame Ivy" Metallic purplish papery narrow leaves in attractive trailing clumps; odd papery tan flowers. "Dragon Flame Creeper" newly popular as a lovely cascading filler for intimate windowboxes, small patio container combinations, mossed topiaries and even as a semi-aquatic for tubs.

51003 HIPPEASTRUM PAPILIO AMARY HP CGH PRICE: $ 8.75 "Butterfly Amaryllis" Nearly evergreen glossy strap leaves; heads of red fls flamed with creamy white. Show stopper. Does not require a "dormant" period to bloom, thus an easy houseplant always maintaining its attractive foliage.

55617 HIPPOBROMA [ISOTOMA] LONGIFLORA LOB CGH TGH PRICE: $ 5.50 A West indies Lobelia shrublet now common in Madagascar & the tropical Pacific: stout short stems thickly skirted with very long dentate dark leaves over which long ivory elongated tubular "Moth Tease" blossoms appear. Various tropical herbal uses of toxic sap are still current. Unless your VooDoo priestess grandmother taught you the correct recipes, we suggest you not ingest any parts of this attractive curosity! Always infamous for its traditional undergound connection with the San Pedro Cactus, depending on what books reside in your plant library. Please do not tell us what you intend to do with this plant.

40371 HOMALOCLADIUM PLATYCLADUM POL HP TGH PRICE: $ 2.50 "Tapeworm Plant" if you are a kid or of the male persuasion; the lovely "Ribbon Plant" if you wish to put a more delicate feminine spin on this most popular of tropical oddities. Glossy flat-jointed stems with tiny arrow leaves and weird waxy green fls swelling from the fat sepals, then black berries; Remarkable Solomon Islands native of easy house culture. Most popular for outdoor containers as well because the very distinctive flat stems make any urn look like a post-modern floral arangement! Sometimes listed as the genus Muhlenbeckia, another group of Citrus kin with weird waxy fruit.

60115 HOYA POLYNEURA ASC HP TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 "Fishtail Hoya" Pairs of thin fishtail-shaped leaves with dark prominent veins on arching stiff stems; rose-tan flowers. Himalayan native, thus needs cooler, less sunny conditions than its more tropical cousins. Mossed URC

60164 HUERNIA SCHNEIDERIANA ASC TGH HP PRICE: $ 3.50 "Dragon FLower" Chocolate violet flowers with cinnamon mahogany tones outside the bells produced in clusters as the base of the glossy upright (then tumbling) succulent short columnar stems ribbed with rows of soft "teeth." Easily grown cousin of the Stapelias, flourishing under the same growing conditions--and importantly, the most easily bloomed of any of the many species we have trialed over the years. An important plant to have for those with at least one prudish great-aunt who can be encouraged to read the plant tag aloud.

10484 HUMATA TYERMANII POLYP HP PRICE: $ 4.25 "White Rabbit Foot." The arched, vigorous foot is pure white and very furry. The fronds are lacy and deep, rich green. Excellent as a pot plant, outstanding in a hanging basket for a houseplant.

40372 HYDNOPHYTUM FORMICARIUM RUB HP TGH PRICE: $ 25.00 Unique epiphytic caudiciform with very swollen tuberous base with access tunnels; very short trunks bear waxy flowers followed by shiny red fruits; excellent houseplant for a consistently warm location.

42063 HYDNOPHYTUM TUBEROSUM RUB TGH TERR PRICE: $ 25.00 "Ant Tuber" Dark nearly glossy swollen globe forms over the mossy surface, the succulent base soon developing odd tunnels for its intended symboitic ants (not a necessary ingredient in your light garden!); topped with short blooming branches.

66264HYLOCERUS GUATAMALENSIS CAC TGH PRICE: $ 7.75 Famous edible Guatamalan "Dragon Fruit" follows the most remarkable nocturnal fragrant foot long white blossoms which emerge from the most impressively statured three winged glaucous clambering stems of this semi-epiphytic big-boned Cactus. Typically sent in dry moss--although potted ones are often mailed as well. Be warned that this is a very very big vine.

40405 IRESINE HERBSTII AUREO-RETICULATA AMARA HP CGH PRICE: $ 5.50 LIMITED AVAILABILITY "Chicken Gizzard Plant" Bright yellow-veined apple-green rounded leaves, with odd notched tips, accented by red-magenta petioles and stems--due to the delicacy of this foliage, not as vigorous as the other cultivars in bedding designs--for the same color qualities we recommend you use 'Formosa' (offered below) instead. Old fashioned puckered foliage again popular among indoor lightgardeners. We will not ship this until weather is consistently warm for it collapses completely if chilled.

50091 JUSTICIA BRANDEGEANA JAMBALAYA ACAN HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.00 "Dwarf Shrimp Plant" A cultivar selected for its compact much-branched habit with attractive bronzy red drooping chain of bracts persisting much longer than the species form. Will bloom most seasons if given full sun and adequate fertilizer.

50040 JUSTICIA BRANDEGEANA VARIEGATA ACAN TGH PRICE: $ 4.25 "Snow Shrimp" Fabulous snowy white variegation on foliage fading to pure white margins; white bracts turn copper in bright light. Rare and striking sport. Not a totally successful houseplant unless you can provide the essential levels of humidity necessary to prevent spider mite. But with good light and a pebble tray this is a definite visual knock-out.

60391 KALANCHOE FEDTSCHENKOI VARIEGATA CRA HP TGH PRICE: $4.75 "Rosy Dawn" to some of its admirers; "Creamed Scallops" to other growers: Central section of the crenate leaves streaked and mottled with rich yellow-cream and aqua tones. Unusual clone, yet still produces showy khaki-pink heads of blossoms on short terminal spikes late winter.

60392 KALANCHOE GASTONIS-BONNIERI CRA HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.25 Handsome large wide coppery "Donkey Ears" leaves inlaid with purple heiroglyphics and liberally dusted with silver on very short central trunks--striking basket subject with masses of midwinter blossoms of delicate pink emerging from the bell like calyx cups. Unique species needing saturated (but never burning) light to form the most silvery flour dusted surface; needs adequate moisture to reach its potentially impressive proportions--but a more horizontal than vertical habit.

60419 KALANCHOE THYRSIFLORA CRA CGH HP PRICE: $ 4.25 "Flap Jacks" or "Oyster Plant" common names reflect the considerable popularity of this South African species with flat oval diagonally-placed leaves with an arresting silvery effect from white mealy surfaces, & with a distinct red rim appearing when grown in high light. Paniculate inflorescenceorescence with yellow flowers.
